HNC Receives Grants From Three Organizations

October 1, 2013Carlsbad, CA … Stacy Maxa, CPA, has been appointed Hospice of the North Coast (HNC) Director of Finance and Administration. She is responsible for the oversight of financial and administrative systems, including financial reporting, accounting, human resources and information technology.
Maxa, who has garnered a broad array of professional finance and management experience during her 16-year career, has devoted 10 years to the nonprofit medical field. Prior to joining HNC in January 2012, she served as controller for the Elizabeth Hospice in Escondido from 2004-2011. From 2002-2004, she held the position of senior accountant for Scripps Health in San Diego. In addition to her work experience, Maxa has amassed knowledge directly related to nonprofits and the hospice industry by attending high-level courses and workshops. She also has expertise in managing employees and in working with department leaders and staff to advance organizational goals.
“I am enjoying the challenge of my new job,” Maxa says. “I am able to put my knowledge of nonprofit organizations in general and the hospice field in particular to good use in terms of financial reporting, strategic planning and compliance.”
Executive Director Nerice Kaufman confirms that this skills set is invaluable for HNC. She says, “Stacy is a fast learner. Her deep knowledge and experience have allowed her to immediately enhance financial reporting, improve processes and engage in planning for the future. She is a great fit for our organization.”
Maxa and her husband live in San Marcos with their two dogs. She enjoys reading, hiking and traveling.
