Funds Will Be Used to Enhance HNC’s Full Spectrum of Services
Carlsbad, CA … Hospice of the North Coast (HNC) has received a $27,500 Health & Human Services grant from The San Diego Foundation. The grant was made possible by the Myron Feinberg Discretionary Fund. The one-year grant was made at the recommendation of The Foundation’s Health & Human Services Working Group to support hospice care provisions to terminally ill persons.
According to HNC Executive Director Nerice Kaufman, this gift marks the most recent of several HNC grants from The Foundation over the years. She says the funds will be used to pursue HNC’s mission of maintaining dignity, comfort and highest quality of life for those served, regardless of their financial or life circumstances.
Kaufman states, “We are honored that this wonderful Foundation, which is such a significant part of life in our region, chose us as the recipient of this generous grant. The gift reflects the impact HNC makes upon those we serve. We are eager to use the funds to enhance our array of services to clients, their families and our North Coastal community. As one of three, free-standing nonprofit hospices in San Diego County, we daily strive to be the premier hospice provider of choice in our area.”
Founded in 1975, The San Diego Foundation is a broad-purpose community foundation helping individuals, families and organizations carry out their charitable plans, with the common goal of improving the quality of life in the greater San Diego Region. The Foundation evaluates and helps coordinate needs with resources, so that charitable gifts are used effectively to address our community’s most critical needs, now and for generations to come.
Nonprofit Hospice of the North Coast was established in 1980 to fill the need for comprehensive, compassionate hospice care in North County San Diego. Since its inception, it has grown in services, staff and clients; it currently provides a full spectrum of programs to terminally ill clients and their families, including bereavement support. To fulfill its mission of maintaining dignity, comfort and highest quality of life for those it serves, regardless of ability to pay, HNC hosts fundraising events, operates a family support camp and resale shop, and maintains a cadre of volunteers.
