The Heartfelt Journey of Hospice Volunteering: A Personal Reflection
April 1, 2024Enhancing Care for Individuals with Serious Illness
June 18, 2024On this Memorial Day, we not only remember the fallen heroes who gave their lives for our freedom but also honor the veterans who are still with us, especially those needing assistance. Hospice of the North Coast extends our heartfelt gratitude to the brave men and women who have served our country. Your sacrifice is a beacon of courage and dedication that illuminates the path of freedom we walk upon. We honor you and the families who have endured the deepest loss with unwavering grace.
In tribute to our fallen veterans, we share the poignant words of John McCrae’s timeless poem, “In Flanders Fields“:
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
